Big flashback to my ‘gap year’ (finish high school, then before heading to university/college went to work in England for a year: as a substitute teacher, dorm-master, groundsman, coach, admin - all round gap student). It’s becoming a fairly popular thing to do for those in Oz’, New Zealand and South Africa. I suppose those in the US can’t wait to get into the college environment and instead move domestically, kind of understandable. Anyway, there are several organizations that help place you, or you can apply directly to certain schools. For those young enough I’d suggest going through the app process, where you tend to get a way better deal.
Definitely one of the best years of my life, whole of Europe at your doorstep. Maidwell Hall was a quality school. You certainly grow up pretty quick traveling to the other-side of the world at seventeen. Something I’d recommend to anyone/everyone if they have the chance.
